All facts: Building, Energy, Air-conditioning Technology

ISH - Energy, building-services and air-conditioning technologyFrom 10 to 14 March 2009 everything at ISH, the world’s leading trade fair for the bathroom experience, building services, energy, air-conditioning technology and renewable energies revolves around two resources which are essential to life: energy and water. ISH brings two trade fairs together under one roof: 'Energy, Building Services and Air-conditioning Technology' and 'The Bathroom Experience'. At this combined trade fair, some 2,400 companies will be represented in the Exhibition Centre which is now all but booked out (a gross floor area of 250,000 square metres) – including all market leaders and technological pioneers. 2009 is ISH's anniversary year. This leading world trade fair has been around for 50 years – five decades which stand for growth, continuity and a successful trade-fair concept. In short – a success story lasting half a century.

In the field of energy, building services and air-conditioning technologies, green building technologies will provide answers to the global challenges of today and tomorrow. The industry will be exhibiting solutions, which combine energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning technology with renewable energies. The extensive range of products on show at this leading world trade fair demonstrates that renewable energies are coming to play an ever more important role – from solar-thermal energy, photovoltaics, biomass, heat pumps, wood and pellet burners, traditional tiled stoves (Swedish stoves) right through to solar-driven air-conditioning systems. Altogether, 950 manufacturers of building services and energy technology will be presenting their new products and will be offering, in Halls 8, 9 and 10, a unique display of achievements in the heating market. Aspects of the product range will be looked at in more detail as part of the complementary programme, in the ISH Technology and Energy Forum in the Galleria, Nord 1, organised by the German industry's association for building services, energy and environmental technology (the BDH) and other partners, and at the special Tiled Stove Exhibition organised by the working group of the German tiled stove industry (AdK) in Hall 9.2.

Aircontec – Air-conditioning, Refrigeration and Ventilation Technology
Air-conditioning, cooling and ventilation technology will be displayed under the Aircontec brand in Halls 5, 6.2 and in the Congress Centre. Some 400 companies are represented here and offer the whole spectrum of innovative solutions for climate control in buildings. With its integrated concept, its high degree of internationality and its holistic way of looking at energy consumption, Aircontec offers the ideal venue for air-conditioning, cooling and ventilation technology. The complementary programme at Aircontec includes the Air-conditioning Forum in Messe Frankfurt's Congress Centre, organised by the Building Climate Institute (FGK - Fachinstitut Gebäude-Klima) and the IKK Building Forum run by the association of German refrigeration and air-conditioning companies (VDKF - Verband Deutscher Kälte-Klima-Fachbetriebe) in Hall 6.2.

The link between energy, building services and air-conditioning technology and 'The Bathroom Experience' is provided by the World of Installation Technology in Hall 4, 6.0 and 6.1 with around 350 exhibitors.

Competitions with a focus on conserving resources
The importance of sustainability with regard to architecture, technology and design is clearly underlined by two prizes at ISH: Messe Frankfurt's Design Plus Award, which is among the leading design competitions in the whole of Germany and the Innovation Award for Architecture and Technology, sponsored by the architecture magazines AIT and Xia, together with Messe Frankfurt. Prize-winning products for both awards will be on display in a special exhibition area for the entire duration of ISH.

Efficient systems and Renewable Energy
’Renewable sources of energy’ in terms of building and energy technology is an important issue for the ISH 2009. The ISH is therefore in line with the current trend in both the political and commercial sphere. The ‘Energy Performance of Buildings’ directive reflects the demand on the part of the EU to adopt an holistic approach to buildings and imposes concrete targets for the development of renewable sources of energy and energy efficiency. High energy costs as well as supply uncertainties on the part of the user have also increased dramatically the demand for technology that protects our natural resources.

The need is for system solutions or more accurately the combination of modern heating technology with renewable sources of energy. Only the mutually beneficial application of efficient technologies and renewable sources of energy will solve today’s problems and those of the future. The ISH – by giving consideration to all energy aspects of the building – is the ideal platform for products and sustainable solutions that meet these complex requirements.

The exhibitors from Europe showcase systems that use renewable sources of energy, offering the most up to date and comprehensive range of products on the global market. They show where technology has got to in the sectors of solar thermal heating, wood and pellet burners, heat pumps and ventilation systems, biogenous energy sources or systems technology for very efficient heat insulated buildings.
