Description

This housing was developed and created in co-creation with the client. Based on an initial design concept, the Project+ engineers at HSV transformed the preliminary design into a feasible product and contributed to the realisation of sustainable mould constructions.

Project+

In this Project+ solution, injection-moulded sections have been optimally integrated with particle foam components. This significantly simplifies the assembly process and delivers savings in time, costs and the logistics process. HSV is the definitive manufacturing company in Europe that has its own in-house expertise and the production facilities to achieve perfect integration of hard plastic injection-moulded components (HSV Technical Moulded Parts) and particle foams (HSV Moulded Foams Group).

Many advantages

The materials used in the housing of this product – expandable plastic EPP and thermoplastics ABS and PC/ABS V0 – offer many advantages. These advantages benefit the designer and the client, but are also convenient for installation technicians and end-users.

• Thanks to the design freedom offered by these plastics and the techniques used in production, the designer has lots of room to create a product featuring a unique design.
• EPP and plastic are lightweight and yet robust.
• The design of the frame in combination with the EPP component makes it easy to install the PCB, achieving an efficient final configuration.

Features

Using modern injection-moulding technology, a laser texture is added to the surface of the visible EPP components, enhancing the aesthetic value of the product. An injection-moulded frame is placed in the interior, aligning optimally with the EPP components thanks to sophisticated geometry with counterdrafts. A logo has been imprinted on the cover (one of the hard plastic injection-moulded components). The cover protects the electronics installed inside this section and contributes to the overall design.

Sustainable mould construction and production locations

The mould constructions are sustainable, achieving a very long service life thanks to durable materials and sophisticated mould technology. The housing is manufactured and partly assembled in the HSV production locations, where sustainability is part of all our business practices. These locations run on green steam and green electricity, generated partly by the solar panels installed on the roofs of our facilities.

Solvis GmbH, a German manufacturer of high-efficiency heating systems and solar collectors, partnered with HSV the particle foam engineers to launch a completely new boiler in record time: the SolvisBen

With the launch of Ben, Solvis has moved forward to an innovative EPP full-system casing for its new top-of-the-line boiler. EPP is ideally suited for the purpose, and the partnership with HSV was a logical choice in a highly complex process.

The partnership with HSV offered many advantages for Solvis, leading to direct savings and increased revenue

• Short time to market: the total development of the boiler took place within a very short time frame.
• TCO: reduced total cost of ownership, significant reduction in the number of parts, and a shorter assembly time.
• First-time-right design: immediately after delivery of the test samples, the first dozens of devices were shipped out.
• Functionality and aesthetic design are combined for maximum effect. EPP is lightweight, offers optimal thermal insulation, and can be shaped into any form at all.

Particulars:
A German manufacturer of cooling systems for utility construction was looking for a combined EPS, EPP, ASA and PP component for their new ceiling unit.

Together with sister company HSV Technical Moulded Parts, we developed a complete unit. In this unit, plastic injection-moulded products are processed in-mould in the particle foam section. This project was a tough nut to crack for our engineers, but in the end they succeeded in helping our client introduce a wonderful product.

Particulars:

The SOLo module is a solar system developed to provide an elegant alternative to conventional photovoltaic power systems and created in partnership with the BPO technical design agency. The system allows solar panels to be mounted on slanted roofs. The SOLo is compact, so it can also be installed on small and/or fragmented roof surfaces.

The designers at Solyco engaged the HSV-TMP engineers to join the project at an early stage. HSV-TMP also handles the entire process – one stop shopping at its best. From design and mould construction to production, assembly and delivery, HSV-TMP is handling it all, which offers our client a number of advantages.

By involving the HSV-TMP engineers during the product development step for the assembly system, our client was able to rely on our knowledge of plastics and additives, mould design and injection technology. That partnership yields beautiful and sustainable solutions. Besides optimal implementation of the design, contributing to strong integration of the solar panels, this project also focused on total cost of ownership, including smart and sophisticated mould design.

Careful selection of the right thermoplastic and additive ensures that the modular system is weather-resistant and contributes to a long lifetime for the mounting structure.
