Messe Frankfurt – the world’s leading organiser of trade fairs, congresses and events with its own exhibition grounds – assumes ecological, social and economic responsibility for all of its business activities.
As a driving force behind protecting resources and working towards a sustainable event business, Messe Frankfurt’s binding ecological target is to be climate-neutral at its Frankfurt base by 2040 at the latest. In concrete terms, this means establishing carbon-neutral business practices and a sustainable water management system.
To systematically advance its transformation, Messe Frankfurt has introduced the environmental management system EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). As well as this, the company regularly takes part in ESG ratings and actively supports German and international sustainability initiatives.
Our measures for a sustainable event
100 percent renewable energy at all our events
Since the beginning of 2020, Messe Frankfurt has been using exclusively green power from renewable resources. This allows it to avoid 19,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.
Carpeting with an ecolabel
We work together with carpeting suppliers whose carpets have Cradle-to-Cradle Certification® in bronze. The aisle carpeting is recycled after use.
Travelling with the combined local transport ticket
Use our free RMV ticket to travel to Messe Frankfurt the environmentally friendly way on any of the network’s local transport options.
Close proximity to our service providers
We work primarily with regional service partners so that transport routes are kept to a minimum. And we always offer the option of sustainable raw materials and consumables.
Recycling
In total, over 90 percent of material at our Frankfurt events is recycled or reused. The remaining ten percent is used to generate energy.
Avoiding waste
Messe Frankfurt aims to avoid waste and to sort 100% of unavoidable waste and incorporate it into its closed-loop system.
