Description

Plumbing Solutions That Transform Lives: The IWSH 2024 Year in Review

In 2024, IWSH united skilled plumbers, manufacturers, and technical experts to deliver scalable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) solutions around the world. Our proven success formula— well-planned projects, skilled plumbers, quality products, and world-class training —brought clean water and improved sanitation to more than 1,000 residents in underserved communities worldwide.

From upgrading water and sanitation systems for Indigenous communities in Australia and the Navajo Nation to training high school students in Lowndes County, Alabama, our initiatives reinforced plumbing's essential role in protecting public health and conserving vital resources.

#IWSHPlumbingChampions

IWSH Plumbing Champions mobilizes the global plumbing industry for good, transforming perceptions of the plumbing industry through installation projects in local communities that are hosting high-profile events.

What is it?
IWSH Plumbing Champions is a skills development and capacity-building program presented in partnership with the World Plumbing Council via an ongoing series of plumbing industry collaborations and showcases worldwide, featuring social impact projects at skills competitions, trade fairs, and other promotional events.

Why are we doing it?
IWSH Plumbing Champions inspires young people to pursue careers in plumbing by highlighting the profession's true scope as champions of public health and resource conservation. We connect our industry partners with local community organizations, transferring products and demonstration builds to move beyond showcases into sustained, real-world impact.

Where are we doing it?
The IWSH Plumbing Champions project at ISH Frankfurt 2025 will be presented as part of the new ISH Festival: showcasing new approaches for collaboration, sustainability, and social impact. The ISH Festival area will be located in Hall 6.1 during the show at Messe Frankfurt. Simultaneously, plumbing materials and technologies will be transferred and installed at the Waggong e.V. ‘Kultur Werkstatt’ arts center in downtown Frankfurt: renovating existing and out-of-use washroom facilities for this important and popular local community organization.

When are we doing it?
The IWSH Plumbing Champions project at ISH Frankfurt 2025 will run from Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 21 2025.

How are we doing it?
Over five days, a team of international plumbers representing various member organizations from across the World Plumbing Council network will work together to build a series of internal plumbing and heating sytems for installation at Waggong e.V. Additional technical tasks and challenges will be assigned with industry partners across the ISH Festival site.

To address the critical need for skilled plumbers globally we need to change perceptions about the industry to attract new talent.
