The Smart Valve is an exceptionally compact pressure-independent control valve (PICV) that regulates the flow rate in a system to a predefined setpoint volume flow.

In addition to its integrated ultrasonic flow measurement, the Smart Valve also measures temperature and pressure. Using electronically controlled ceramic disc valve technology and the integrated PID controller, it can regulate all measured variables.

This makes the Smart Valve suitable both as a pressure-independent control valve for hydraulic balancing in heating systems or geothermal probes and for regulating drinking water circulation systems.

With additional ultrasonic functions such as glycol detection and gas or air bubble detection, the valve monitors all relevant parameters of the installation.

R290 (Propan) bietet als Kältemittel in Wärmepumpen viele Vorteile, denn es ermöglicht die in oft in Sanierungen erforderlichen Vorlauftemperaturen von 75 °C und hat gleichzeitig ein geringes Global Warming Potential (GWP). Jedoch handelt es sich um ein brennbares Kältemittel, das besondere Sicherheitsmaßnahmen erfordert.

Das R290 Safety Development Kit eröffnet Wärmepumpenhersteller neben überdimensionierten Gasabscheidern und doppelwandigen Wärmetauschern einen neuen Ansatz zur sicheren Detektion von freigesetztem R290 im Heizkreis. Mithilfe der Ultraschall-Gasblasenerkennung kann R290 sicher erkannt werden. Eine R290 Leckage im Wärmetauscher kann bspw. durch die Bilanzierung von ein- und ausströmenden Gasblasen in den Wärmetauscher detektiert werden. Aber auch zur Effizienzsteigerung des Gasabscheiders eignet sich das System, denn es ermöglicht die Drosselung des Volumenstroms bei Erkennung von Gasblasen im System, sodass Gasabscheider effektiver arbeiten und evtl. kleiner dimensioniert werden können.

Mit dem R290 Safety Development Kit können Wärmepumpenhersteller die Funktionalität der Ultraschall-Gasblasenerkennung auf ihr individuelles Wärmepumpen-System abstimmen, um die bestmögliche funktionale Sicherheit für den Anwender bieten zu können.
