Dampers
Description
Smoke Dampers for Smoke Control Systems
Smoke dampers are specifically designed to restrict the flow of smoke within a building, playing a critical role in engineered smoke control systems. These dampers automatically close using actuators during fire incidents, controlling the movement of smoke when the HVAC system is operational.
Applications of Smoke Dampers
Smoke dampers serve two primary functions:
-
Passive Smoke Control Systems:
The dampers close to prevent the circulation of air and smoke through ducts, effectively isolating affected areas. -
Engineered Smoke Control Systems:
Designed to work alongside walls and floors as smoke barriers, these systems use the building’s HVAC system and/or dedicated fans to create pressure differentials, controlling the spread of smoke throughout the structure.
The ADS-2020-1 Smoke Dampers are specifically designed for use in dynamic HVAC systems to prevent the spread of smoke during life safety situations.
