This scheme covers water fittings, pipes, and appliances that come into contact with drinking water. Products include valves, backflow-prevention devices, taps, mixers, shower heads, pipes and fittings, tanks, cisterns, water meters, washing machines, dishwashers, steam ovens, and many others. NSF REG4 approval also extends to non-metallic products, like rubbers, coatings, cement, resins, and sealants.

Depending on the number of products you sell in the UK, NSF offers two solutions tailored to meet your needs:

• NSF REG4 1+, which includes an annual facility audit requirement that enables a reduced level of retesting after five years
• NSF REG4 S3, which does not have a facility audit requirement but mandates a full retest after five years

NSF offers testing, certification, and registration services for the OQC registration scheme. Registration with OQC distinguishes quality products made in Italy through continuous verification and regular inspection.

As the third-party administrator of OQC, NSF verifies that all products comply with OQC guidelines. In addition to performing annual audits of your manufacturing facilities, we review quality, material safety, and performance documentation.

We require validated third-party test reports to demonstrate your compliance with material safety and mechanical performance quality requirements (such as NSF/ANSI/CAN 61, NSF REG4, ACS, or other international certifications). We also require proof that your products are made in Italy, according to our scheme.

The OQC product registration program includes but is not limited to the following product categories:

• Mechanical devices used in water distribution and drinking water treatment
• Sanitary products, such as taps, flexible connectors, shower heads, etc.
• Pipes and related products

Products that comply with these standards bear the OQC registration mark. Recognized around the world, the OQC mark demonstrates that the products are made in Italy and meet the applicable sanitation, performance, and quality requirements.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 50: Equipment for Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs, and Other Recreational Water Facilities defines performance validation, operational safety, and testing criteria for pool and spa products. Product certification to this standard is required by the Model Aquatic Health Code and most U.S. state and local pool codes.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 50 certification provides health effects evaluation criteria for pool chemicals and also requires testing for trace contaminants in chemicals that are used in the treatment and circulation systems of swimming pools, spas, and water parks.

The evaluation criteria for pool and spa treatment chemicals are based on risk assessments for dermal contact, inhalation, and ingestion exposures.

Any chemical used to treat pool or spa water may be evaluated to the requirements of NSF/ANSI 50.

This includes chemicals for water balance, filtration aids, disinfectants, and specialty products.
