About us

The name Stiferite has been synonymous with thermal insulation for over 50 years.
Its identity dates back to the 1960s, when the company was found by Ferdinando Stimamiglio and it was the first to introduce polyurethane rigid foam panels in Europe.

The excellent insulating properties of polyurethane, combined with its practical use, led to the rapid success of STIFERITE insulating materials. In 1968 the production plant was transferred from its initial site in Pomezia, Rome, to a new plant in Padua, where a new continuous production line with increased production capacities was installed.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the first energy crisis helped to raise market awareness on thermal  insulation. Because of the growing demand for more and efficient insulation, it became necessary to install a second line of production. Stiferite became the first in Europe to introduce a special polyurethane panel with aluminum facings specifically designed for air ducts.

Over the years, STIFERITE successfully maintained its great innovation ability: it was the first to develop polyurethane foam panels with mineral fibre facers, and the first to use blowing agents that are harmless to the ozone layer. The new STIFERITE’s Polyiso foams are designed to optimize performances: for example the gas-tight facers in the STIFERITE’S GT panel was designed to ensure long term insulation stability, Class SK panel is used for the external insulation system (ETICS), ISOVENTILATO panel for ventilated roof insulation and the new FIRE B panel with excellent fire reaction properties (Euroclass B s1 d0).

STIFERITE is certified by the norm OHSAS 18001 for the safety of its employees and it also obtained the voluntary certification ISO 14001 for its own environmental management system: this shows its commitment to constantly reduce the environmental impact.

Stiferite develops solutions for thermal insulation in the building and industrial sector based on the use of  polyurethane foam of the polyiso type (PIR). This latest was introduced in Stiferite’s production at the beginning of the year 2000 and represents an important evolution of the traditional polyurethane foams. It obtained significantly better mechanical and dimensional stability, as well as fire rating performances.
Stiferite’s panels differ in shape, facings and performances to better meet  the needs of thermal insulation of roofs, walls and floors of different projects and climatic areas.

The range of STIFERITE’s products include:

  • Panels in polyiso foam with various facings
  • Bonded panels are panels in polyiso foam bonded on one side to various materials such as bituminous membranes, plasterboard, etc.
  • Systems developed for specific types of applications, like ventilated roofs that include the insulation panels and the necessary accessories for the complete installation.

Panels for Isocanale System

The Specific line of Stiferite’s panels used in the fabrication of pre-insulated ventilation ducts come in various types and differ in the followings:

  • Thickness of the aluminium facer
  • The finish surface of the facer: smooth or embossed, antibacterial
  • Density of the Polyiso foam
  • Thickness of the panel, 20 or 30 mm

Panels come in standard dimensions of 1200 x 4000 mm or 1200 x 3000mm.

Panels are all made of Polyiso foam with initial thermal conductivity (λi) of 0,021 W/mK.

Advantages of the ISOCANALE system

  • Quality of the air and efficiency of the system
  • Energy savings and thermal insulation
  • Lightweight and safety
  • Minimum Noise
  • Durability
  • Reduced Costs
  • Versatility

STIFERITE is committed to a series of environmental scientific analysis and a precise and transparent communication in the market.  For this reason it has developed Life Cycle Analysis (LCD) studies of some of its products based on international standard (ISO Serie 14040). It has also prepared and registered the first EPD (Enviromental Product Declaration) of panels in expanded rigid polyurethane using STIFERITE’s Class S 60 mm panel, verified by a credited third party (RINA).
