The thermostatic mixing valve is used in systems that produce domestic hot water. It is designed to maintain the preset temperature of the mixed water delivered to the user outlet, when there are variations in the temperature and pressure of the hot and cold water at the inlet, or in the drawn-off flow rate. These devices are also available with fittings complete with strainers and check valves on the hot and cold water inlets.

• Operating principle

The regulating element in the thermostatic mixing valve consists of a temperature sensor fully immersed in the mixed water outlet pipe which, by expanding and contracting, continuously ensures correct proportioning of hot and cold water at the inlet. The water proportions are regulated by a piston that slides inside a special cylinder placed between the hot and cold water passage channels. Even if the pressure drops due to hot or cold water drawn-off by other users or temperature variations at the inlet, the mixing valve automatically adjusts the water flow rate until the set temperature is achieved.

In systems with thermostatic mixing valves, check valves must be installed to prevent undesired backflow.

The classic thermostatic radiator valve contains a plug, typically made of wax (forming a wax motor), which expands or contracts with the surrounding temperature. This plug is connected to a pin which in turn is connected to a valve. The valve gradually closes as the temperature of the surrounding area increases, limiting the amount of hot water entering the radiator. This allows a maximum temperature to be set for each room.

The MAGNETIC FILTER is obtained by coupling a dirt separator and a cartridge strainer assembled in kit.

The water circulating in the system flows in sequence, first through the dirt separator and then through the cartridge strainer. The dirt separator separates the impurities contained in the water by the action of the internal element.

Ferrous impurities are also trapped inside the body of the device due to the action of the two magnets inserted in a special removable outer ring.

The first passage through the dirt separator makes it possible to separate a high percentage of the impurities in the circulating water, down to minimal particle sizes.

The cartridge strainer separates impurities due to mechanical selection of the particles in accordance with their size, which is a special metal mesh.

All the particles with diameter bigger than the mesh size are automatically stopped and separated, with maximum separation efficiency at the first passage.

Thermostatic Radiator Valves are probably more commonly known as TRVs and their main function is to control the air temperature of a space by automatically adjusting the amount of hot water that enters the radiator they are attached to.

A TRV will allow you to have a little more control over the temperature in each room of your home, making creating a warm and inviting space more efficient and cost-effective.

In short, TRVs are a simple and affordable way of controlling the heat output of a radiator and the temperature of a room.
